The WOLL Mission

Raise awareness and the necessary funds to find the Cure for all blood cancer and to improve the quality of life of all patients and their families.

Wings Over Leukemia & Lymphoma (WOLL) is a grass-roots organization founded from a hospital room in 2017, by a three-time lymphoma survivor while receiving a life-saving stem cell transplant over the course of twenty-one days at the University of Virginia’s Emily Couric Cancer Center. WOLL’s first fundraiser was held two months later at Lendy’s Cafe in Virginia Beach, Virginia and raised over $20,000.

The WOLL Event

WOLL’s annual signature event is an all-day outdoor music and wing fest held in November. Dozens of corporate sponsors and hundreds of attendees are its fundraising backbone where 100% of the net proceeds benefit Blood Cancer United, previously known as The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society®.

The charity event includes live music, All-You-Can-Eat wings, BBQ and clam chowder, mouthwatering sides, cold libations, countless raffles and an exciting silent auction. Tom Schaad, local WAVY10 news anchor, emcees the event and delivers a moving lantern ceremony honoring survivors, caregivers, families/friends, and those no longer with us because we have yet to find the CURE for all blood cancers.

WOLL Raises $240,000+

100% of the net proceeds benefit Blood Cancer United’s Light the Night campaign which funds life-saving blood cancer research around the world, provides free information and support services, and is the voice for all blood cancer patients seeking access to quality, affordable, and coordinated care. They have invested nearly $1.8 billion in cancer research and is a leader in advancing breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine.
